Asset photos that actually support hire-purchase files

9 June 2026

Hire-purchase credit scoring applications often collapse on something unglamorous: the asset photo set. A single showroom shot of a motorcycle does not prove the unit booked matches the chassis number on the invoice, nor does it show condition at delivery.

Minimum useful set

  • Front and rear angles with plate area visible if plated
  • Chassis or VIN plate readable in at least one frame
  • Odometer at booking for used units
  • Side-by-side with the invoice or transfer document ID in the file index

Why auditors linger here

When early recoveries fail, collections asks whether the asset was ever clearly identified. If the application pack cannot answer, the dispute shifts from borrower behaviour to underwriting discipline. Sampling that tags weak photo sets gives branch coaches a concrete drill — clearer than telling them to “be more careful.”
